La Estancia!

Today was so fun! We had to get up super early (not so fun) and load the bus to head out to the countryside. When we got there it was basically like a ranch. There were lots of open fields and horses. Then we entered the lodge where all of our mouths dropped open when we saw the huge tables full of food and drinks! We sat down to find carrot salad, eggs, tomatoes, bread, regular salad, wine and potatoes. Soon after we tried a little of everything, the servers started offering rounds of various parts of the asado. They came around 7 different times during the course of the meal, each time with a new piece of meat for everyone to try. It was literally like eating a 15 course meal! When we had all eaten and drank to our heart’s content, dessert was served. It was equally delicious of course. Then came the dancing! First there was a traditional folk performance done by a man and woman and then guests from the audience were selected to dance with the professionals! It was so funny! They had no idea what they were doing but everyone was having a fabulous time. Then one man came up and asked Lisa to dance because his wife had been called up. He was super old and was like “It’s okay, I can trade my wife for three dances with a woman who is 15.” We all started laughing…it was Lisa’s 21st birthday that day.
Once our food babies had worn off we headed outside to watch horseback riders pull out pins with metal spikes. It was a really cool trick! Then we got to ride horses ourselves! We didn’t do any tricks but it was a very fun day.
